General Health
Maintaining general health and an overall wellbeing is perhaps more important today than it has ever been. Not only does doing so help ensure longevity and happiness, it is also financially better to remain healthy than it is to be sick. There are, however, certain disease conditions (genetic) that people can do little to control, but for the most part, general health problems are preventable.
Lifestyle is one of the biggest contributors to the maintenance of general health and wellbeing. It encompasses everything from vices to nutrition and exercise habits. It even includes the decision to go for regular checkups at the doctor's office. Sadly, what most people fail to realize is that they have more control over their generic health than they give themselves credit. In example, the decision to smoke or imbibe may seem simple enough, but it can have long lasting repercussions that can affect a person's general health throughout their lifetime.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is also Key in the prevention of general health problems. In example, Hypertension, although sometimes genetic in nature, can be kept at bay with regular exercise and proper nutrition. Regular exercise and a proper diet can also help prevent the development of common health problems such as diabetes and hyperlipidemia (high blood cholesterol levels). Another good example of the relationship of lifestyle and generic health is smoking. If smoking is avoided, people dramatically lower their chances of developing health problems such as emphysema and lung cancer.
Aside from the physical aspects of generic health, it is important to remember that health also encompasses social and personal relationships. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Health as "...a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." This means that in order to maintain general health, people should not only focus on avoiding diseases but also on ensuring that they maintain healthy social and personal relationships.
Another important factor of generic health maintenance is health information. Being properly informed helps people make decisions that contribute positively to their general wellbeing. Health Information can be easily obtained from any healthcare practitioners. Most schools teach students general health awareness at an early age. The basic ideals of generic health maintenance can be easily accessed online or through information pamphlets. Yet, despite all that it is still a fact that a majority of the world's population remain ignorant when it comes to general health.
As mentioned, general health maintenance and financial stability often go hand in hand. Prevention is always better than cure and it is much more affordable too. Living a healthy lifestyle minimizes the chances of developing serious health problems. In a sense, a conscious effort to maintain generic health can even result in lower insurance premiums. This is because insurance agencies charge higher premiums when they find that the applicant is a smoker, a constant drinker or is living a stagnant lifestyle.
The drive to maintain good general health and to lead a healthy lifestyle should be innate in everyone. Not only does it benefit the individual physically and financially, it also helps elevated the common health status of the world in general.
